Kathmandu, July 30: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has expressed worry over the incidents occurred at Devangunj of Sunsari and some places of Siraha district. He said government is serious and sensitive towards such unrest.

In his address to the nation on Thursday, PM Shah paid tribute to Jay Prakash Mehata, Om Prakash Mehata and Ganesh Yadav who lost lives in the tragic incidents and extended condolences to the bereaved family members. 

PM Shah wished speedy recovery to those injured in the incidents and informed that he had clearly directed to all health institutions to ensure timely treatment to the injured ones. "I'm speaking at a critical moment now," PM Shah said, adding, "alleging entire community over an unexpected and tragic incident and flaring up revenge in other parts of the country can not be just and judicious at all."

PM Shah reminded that the constitution has provided fundamental rights to each citizen to follow one's own religion, culture and tradition. The government is committed to carrying out its constitutional duty, he added. Efforts are on to normalize the situation immediately after the incidents with the mobilization of all security agencies. Restoration of peace and security are imperative, according to him.

"The Home Ministry has already formed a probe committee for fair investigation and action to the perpetrator," PM Shah said, "I want to assure all that this probe will be fair and transparent. Anyone found guilty would be brought to legal ambit."

PM Shah stated in the address that the government is working actively to prevent worsening of situation, loss of lives and property, and create atmosphere of trust at local level. Even an all-party meeting was called at central level for normalization of situation, while dialogues with various sides- people's representatives, civil society, religious gurus, community leaders and social activists- was continuous at local level.

“In order to directly monitor the local situation, communicate with the affected sides, and further strengthen peace and security, the Home Minister himself, along with senior officials of the security agencies, has already departed for the site,” he said. 
“A meeting of the National Security Council was held to seriously review the overall state of peace and security in the country, and necessary decisions have been made to address the situation.” 
Considering such sensitive moment, PM Shah has requested people not to spread or propagate false, unverified information, rumours and content that incites hatred, or expressions that foment discord among communities through social media or other platforms, and should instead trust only the official facts and information released by official/government bodies. 
“Protecting the life and property of every citizen, maintaining social harmony, and keeping peace in society is the highest and primary duty of the State. The State will also remain vigilant and sensitive in the days to come,” Shah stressed. 
Emphasizing that all government mechanisms will work round the clock to ensure the safety of every citizen, he highlighted that peace and security should not be disrupted anymore. He said that the government is fully aware of activities that disrupt peace and security, spread anarchy, or shake our centuries-old social harmony, tolerance, and fraternity, and that stringent action will be taken against such ill-intended activities.
"Religion is a force that connects society and shares love; no religion or culture in the world teaches violence, hatred, and division. The essence of all religions is compassion, kindness, love, and peace," the PM said. "Our history is evidence – even in the toughest and most challenging situations, mutual unity, tolerance, and wisdom have been our greatest strengths." 
He said that everyone needs to perform their role as responsible citizens to remove the clouds of unrest hovering over our beautiful and peaceful Nepali sky. 
Prime Minister Shah also addressed in Maithili, urging the maintenance of national unity. "We, the common citizens, civil society, religious communities, all respected leaders, all political parties, and all responsible media, should patiently and wisely help maintain peace, harmony, brotherhood, and national unity – this is a heartfelt appeal from the government."
