Karnali, Oct 5: Karnali Province Chief Minister Mangal Bahadur Shahi said that work has started with a focus on the 10th National Games–2026.

Inaugurating the secretariat of the 10th National Games Main Organizing Committee here today in Surkhet Birendranagar, he stated that the main objective is to conduct the sports competition, which will be held from coming December 2-13, in a grand and orderly manner.

The inauguration programme was organized by organized by the National Sports Council and co-organized by the Karnali Sports Development Council.

"We have emphasized on fulfilling any shortfall in conducting the Games. Activities like preparing the sports infrastructure, boarding facilities for the athletes and training are proceeding ahead," he said. 

Talking about the preparations for the Games, Chief Minister Shahi said that the provincial government is committed to completing the competition course.

Social Development Minister Jeet Bahadur Malla appealed to all stakeholders to cooperate from their respective quarter now that the 'mega festival' of the sports sector has begun.

Pramod Hamal, Vice President of the Karnali Province Sports Development Council and Coordinator of the Housing Management Committee, mentioned that information about hotels, restaurants, and homestays for the athletes participating in the competition has been collected, and Shubha and Siddhartha Hotels have been selected for accommodation of the distinguished guests of the Government of Nepal.
