Kathmandu, Oct 8: Chief Election Commissioner Man Bahadur Karki has announced that the Election Commission is in full swing preparing for the upcoming local level elections. 
During talks with the RSS team at the Election Commission office today, he stated, "We’re always in preparation mode for the next election. The government will determine the election date, and it’s our responsibility to ensure that everything runs smoothly and fairly on that day. We’re completely dedicated to that." 
Karki explained, "As per our constitutional guidelines, the government will consult with us before announcing any election dates. However, we think it’s crucial not to leave local bodies vacant for too long, so we’re gearing up accordingly." 
Referring to the upcoming local elections, he pointed out that since the tenure of local bodies will end in the upcoming Baisakh (April), elections are anticipated to occur around that time, in line with constitutional provisions. 
When asked about the possibility of holding local and provincial elections at the same time, he replied, "Elections will be conducted according to our constitutional framework and legal requirements. We also have to consider our needs. So, it’s not accurate to say that the elections will happen simultaneously. 
We’ll move forward based on the date set by the government," said Chief Election Commissioner Karki. 
Karki also acknowledged that the RSS has played a vital and proactive role in creating a positive, election-friendly atmosphere in past elections, and stressed that the commission is eager to work with RSS in the future as well.
Election Commissioners Sagun Shamsher JBR and Guru Prasad Wagle were also present in the discussion. 
Similarly, RSS General Manager Sandip Rai, Editor-in-Chief Uttam Silwal, Chief Reporter Yek Raj Pathak, Feature Section chief Krishna Adhikari and officiating administration chief Bharat KC were present on the occasion.
