Kathmandu, Oct. 21: Chief Ministers (CMs) of Koshi, Bagmati and Lumbini Provinces have underscored the role of Bijaya Dashami in strengthening national unity, promoting social harmony and preserving Nepal’s rich cultural heritage, extending warm wishes to all Nepalis on the occasion.
In their separate messages on the occasion of Bijaya Dashami (also known as Bada Dashain) today, Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki, Bagmati Province CM Kiran Thapa Magar and Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya highlighted how festivals bring families and communities closer, foster mutual respect and help pass cultural traditions from one generation to the next.
CM Karki said Bijaya Dashami strengthens family bonds and mutual respect while inspiring people to follow the path of truth.
He noted that festivals such as Bada Dashain play a vital role in fostering goodwill, tolerance, love and unity in Nepal’s diverse society.
''Our traditional festivals are not merely symbols of religious faith and cultural beliefs; they are also the foundations of social cohesion, national identity and our shared Nepali identity,'' he argued, extending his wishes for happiness, peace, prosperity, good health and longevity to all Nepalis.
Similarly, CM Thapa Magar described Nepali festivals as pillars of national identity, family ties and social harmony.
Recalling the hardship caused by natural disasters, particularly floods in the Bhotekoshi and Budhigandaki river, Thapa Magar expressed solidarity with affected communities.
He mentioned that the Bagmati Province government is prioritizing rescue, relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction to help those affected return to normal life.
Similarly, Lumbini Province Chief Minister Acharya asserted that the Bijaya Dashami symbolizes the victory of truth over falsehood and justice over injustice, inspiring courage, positive change and stronger social bonds.
He viewed that preserving cultural values, traditional arts and customs is a shared responsibility.
Acharya also called for collective efforts to end discrimination, hostility and intolerance and build a just, equitable and prosperous society.
Pointing to the growing risks of floods, landslides and inundation linked to climate change, he stressed the need to prioritize disaster preparedness, environmental protection and climate change mitigation.
The three CMs expressed hope that Dashain would inspire people to deepen mutual understanding, strengthen cooperation and work together towards a peaceful, inclusive and prosperous Nepal.
The 10th day of the Bada Dasain festival is being celebrated all over the country today with great enthusiasm by receiving 'tika' and blessings from elders.
