Gandaki, Sept. 21: The Gandaki Provincial Government has initiated an investigation following allegations of bribery involving the outgoing Health Minister Laxman Bahadur Pandey and Health Secretary Dr Yuvanidhi Basaula.
The Health Minister's personal secretary Yadav Paudel has also been named in the scam regarding the granting of permission to upgrade Pokhara's Padma Nursing Home.
Government Spokesperson and Minister for Economic Affairs, Jit Bahadur Sherchan, shared that a three-member inquiry committee was formed on Sunday under the leadership of an Under Secretary at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers.
Dr Basaula, the Health Secretary implicated in the case, has been recalled to the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers. Spokesperson Sherchan added that the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers has also written to the Pokhara office of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) for investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, the committee has been mandated to submit its report within 15 days.
The Health Ministry is initiating a process to suspend the implementation of the decision to upgrade the hospital until the investigation is completed.
