Kathmandu, Oct 15: National Assembly member Jit Jung Basnet has said Nepal should vibrantly raise the issues of climate change in the international forums. The international community must be made aware on the severe impacts- loss and damages- Nepal is facing due to climate change, he added.

Basnet viewed it during the meeting of NA Committee on Development, Economic Affairs and Good Governance on Thursday. The meeting dwelt on Nepal's effective diplomatic role in the international event on climate change. 

Nepal's leading role on climate agenda is awaited, according to him.

NA member Urmila Aryal also stressed Nepal's active participation on climate conferences. In view of lawmaker Kamala Panth, hydropower and tourism are the areas requiring adequate attention for Nepal's economic prosperity.

NA member Ghanashyam Rijal emphasized proper balance between development and environment. It is time to remove hindrances to conservation.

Effective initiatives are awaited for minimizing climate change impacts, while reduction of human-wildlife conflict is equally important, NA member Samjhana Devkota said.   

According to lawmaker Bhuwan Sunuwar, government needs proper policy and programmes to address demands of the people displaced by climate-induced disasters.
