Kathmandu, Oct 25: The Tamang heritage trail situated in Rasuwa district and the Ruby valley trail located in Dhading district have been made accessible to tourists. Following damage sustained by the footpath due to flooding in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on August 26, the route has been reopened for tourist use following the construction of a temporary bridge spanning the Bhotekoshi River at Syafrubensi.
Balram Neupane, Chairman of the Rasuwa-Nuwakot Tourism Association, reported that the footpath has been made available to tourists subsequent to the installation of a temporary bridge for vehicular passage at Syafrabensi, which had been damaged by the Bhotekoshi river flooding. Approximately 1,000 domestic and foreign tourists traverse this footpath annually.
This trail permits trekking for a duration of seven to ten days, during which visitors may observe the cultural practices of the Tamang community, characterized by Tibetan cultural influences and traditions, stone-constructed residences featuring wooden windows, religious monasteries, prayer walls, and related structures. Parvatikunda is accessible via Syafrabensi, Bahundanda, Goljung, and Gatlang of Amachhoding Rural Municipality along this footpath.
Dinesh Tamang Phulung, Secretary of the Rasuwa-Nuwakot Tourism Society, noted that panoramic vistas of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Snow Range, and the Sino-Nepali border are visible from this footpath. The picturesque Ruby valley in Dhading can also be reached through this footpath. Rakesh Dhamala, a tourism entrepreneur from Dhading, reported that with the completion of a temporary bridge over the Bhotekoshi River at Syafrubensi in Rasuwa, both the Tamang heritage footpath in Rasuwa and the Ruby Valley footpath in Dhading have been made accessible to tourists.
Visitors undertaking the Tamang heritage trail traverse through Gangajamuna in Dhading and Manaslu in Gorkha via Somtang, Pangsang Pass, and Setodaha in Ganesh Himal, situated within Ruby Valley Rural Municipality of Dhading. The Manaslu Larkepass region, previously inaccessible due to flooding in the Budhigandaki river of Gorkha, has subsequently been reopened to permit trekking activities in this locality.
Annually, approximately 400 to 500 domestic and foreign tourists visit the Ruby Valley footpath in Dhading. Trekking destinations previously impacted by the Bhotekoshi flood, including Langtang and Gosaikunda areas, have been restored for trekking purposes. Following the installation of the Belly Bridge in Betravati, which sustained damage from the Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa on August 26, the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) has established two alternative routes to access the Langtang area.
The first alternative route involves traveling from Kathmandu through Trishuli and Betravati to reach Dhunche or Bolsyafroo, subsequently proceeding through Bambu, Lamahotel, and Langtang to Kanjin.
The second alternative route encompasses the path from Kathmandu through Chisapani, Helambu, Tharepati, Ghopte, Gosainkund, Thulosyaphru, Bambu, Lama Hotel, and Langtang to Kanjin. TAAN has advised hikers, tourists, and tourism professionals to ascertain current trail conditions prior to commencing their expeditions and to implement appropriate safety measures.
