Kathmandu, August 13: The government has called for assistance in the search, rescue and distribution of relief in the aftermath of the heavy loss of life and property due to the landslide and floods in different parts of the country.
In a press release issued this evening, the Ministry of Home Affairs has urged the industrialists, philanthropists, and humanitarian and social organizations to provide relief including foodstuff required by the families in distress due to the natural disasters.
The Ministry also stated that personnel of the Nepalese Army, Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, trained security persons and other human resources have been mobilized under the leadership of the local administrations for carrying out search and rescue in the flood affected and inundated areas.
Five thousand and six hundred trained personnel of the Nepal Police, one thousand 700 APF personnel and 8,300 Nepalese Army personnel as well as helicopters have been mobilized for search and rescue operation, the Ministry has stated.
Those rescued and evacuated have been sheltered at schools and other facilities, while the District Disaster Relief Committee have made arrangements for providing food to them.
Likewise, the Ministry has urged the Ministry of Health to dispatch a team of health workers to the affected areas along with medicines.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has paid tribute to those who lost their life to the disaster and also extended condolences to the bereaved families. RSS
