Bhadrapur, Sept 19 (RSS): Leaders of the Limbuwan movement who are not happy with the new constitution, asserted that their main demand is federalism with identity, but noted that republic, federalism and secularism in the constitution are welcome. "Federalism as envisioned in the constitution is not complete. Three years have elapsed since the constitution was passed, but people have not been able to feel any sort of change," said Kumar Lingden, President of the Sanghiya Loktantrik Rastriya Manch leading the movement in the east, talking to Rastriya Samachar Samiti.
He however said they agree in principle to the fundamental features of the constitution. Lingden pitched for the establishment of 11 provinces, empowering provincial government and chief minister.
Likewise, Sanjuhang Palungwa, President of the Federal Limbuwan State Council spoke against racial suppression and discrimination. "The constitution should not be biased. Political changes cannot be felt until the practice of racial suppression and discrimination is ended," he said.
Mina Pandak, central vice president of the Rastriya Janamukti Party, stressed the need for the constitution to accommodate all, while writer Bhawani Baral, who is closely watching Limbuwan movement in the east, called for political movements to address dissenting voices.
Editor-in-Chief of Yalambar Times Weekly Dipin Rai stressed the need for fully implementing the right of languages as specified by the constitution.
